Assassin’s Creed Pirates spin-off game sails into Android next week
Ubisoft has just announced a new game from its Assassin’s Creed franchise that is developed specifically for mobile devices. Unfortunately, while bearing the name of the popular game title, it might be one that disappoints fans instead.
If you’re expecting this game to have the same adrenaline-pumping elements of the recently released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, it might do well to look away. After all, there is nothing speedy nor stealthy about maneuvering a huge, Victorian-era pirate ship. And that’s practically what Assassin’s Creed Pirates is all about, as if the name isn’t already a dead giveaway. The game puts players in the role of Alonzo Batilia, a young and unsurprisingly ambitious captain unsurprisingly hellbent in becoming the world’s most feared pirate. Don’t expect to see or do any swashbuckling action, though, because what you basically end up with is a naval management and strategy game on visual steroids.
Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is set to depart for both Android and iOS next week, around December 5. If this game has, in any way, tickled your fancy, better set aside a small amount of your gaming budget as it is expected to come with a $4.99 price tag.Being a captain of a sea-faring pirate ship is no walk in the park, and this game pretty much reminds you of that. You, the player, are in charge of choosing your crew, choosing and purchasing cannons, and keeping your ship sea-worthy. Of course, there will be no dearth of naval battles, but these are mostly played out in SvS, or ship versus ship, scenarios. That said, the game looks gorgeous and will probably push your Android device’s capabilities to the limit. The game also has a unique feature that pits you and your ship against the elements, turning rain and tide into merciless foes as well. Here’s a short trailer of the game’s naval combat and gameplay.
